A transcontinental road trip without good sound is like like... well, I'm at a loss for words! There's only so much drone of the tires on pavement and the roar of a diesel engine next to you that you can handle.

And music alone won't cut it. Although aproximately 50 CD-ROMs full of MP3 music keep anything from repeating, there is a need to be more involved from time to time, and talking books fills the bill.

We have a subscription to SimplyAudiobooks.com, which helps the road time go by. Sometimes educational, sometimes inpiring, sometimes just mindless self indulgence, I don't know how I could have driven through the night sometimes without a fascinating tale unfolding in my ear.

Tach Sender

The Floscan is a great instrument, but I couldn't figure out how to drive it's tachometer -- my 4BT had no tach sender. So I put one together out of a Hall effect sensor.
