Rocky Sky, Cloudy Beach

Description:

Most folks just glance down on them, perhaps cursing as one clutches at a boot or jumps in front of a toe, but today, the rocks on the Oregon coast north of Newport seem to be reaching for the sky.

Genuinely interested in their point-of-view, I crawl on my belly and ask, “What do you see today, rock?”

But rocks take a long time to answer such questions -- they’re so busy with their eons–long business of just sitting there, resisting the ocean’s incessant churning.

So I just stare up at their view, and imagine life as a rock.
